The space
Enter the gracious, sun drenched living room and sink into elegant, yet comfortable sofas while admiring the rotating gallery of contemporary paintings and photography. Pair your phone to the Bose speaker, sit back and enjoy your music. On the same floor you’ll find a kitchen stocked with quality cookware and all the dishes, glasses, silverware, utensils and small appliances you’ll need to express your inner Julia Child. Enjoy eating at the large white oak dining table in the adjacent dining room or the equally large teak table just outside on the deck. Both are ideal for lingering over a cup of coffee, a Shirley Temple or a glass of wine while you enjoy the view! And if you prefer to barbecue, there’s a gas grill on the deck just outside the kitchen.
Nearby on the same floor you’ll find an office with desk, ergonomic chair and Bluetooth printer. Its soft gray sofa converts easily to a double bed, should you need it. Between the office and the kitchen is a full bathroom
Head back to the living room and up an elegant winding staircase to the air-conditioned master bedroom and bath, with double sink vanity and large walk in shower.
On the ground floor (below the living room), you’ll find the spacious yet cozy den where you can stream movies and your favorite shows using your own apps, while enjoying the extra warmth of a wood stove. This room also has a child-sized play table and 2 small stools made especially for the kiddos in your life. Peek inside the hidden storage compartment to find a few toys. And for the rest of your gang, there’s a round table and chairs that’s perfect for a game of cards, monopoly or chess, or for assembling a jigsaw puzzle.
Down the hall—follow the kilim-style runners- you’ll find a full bathroom and 2 more inviting bedrooms; one with a queen-sized bed and the other with two twins. Every bedroom is equipped with cotton blankets for spring/summer and down comforters for fall/winter, and towels aplenty. Continue down the hall and through a door and you’ll come to a room we call “the connector,” because it connects the main house to a garage, where guests can park up to 2 cars during the winter months (December-March). Above the connector is a separate loft-like apartment. If the main house isn’t big enough, or if you’re bringing someone who wants a little extra privacy (the in-laws? a newlywed couple?), you can rent this unit too and combine it with the big house to make a super big house.
If you don’t need the additional space, we will, from time-to-time, rent the loft to another party at the same time that you are renting the big house. Or we may stay there ourselves. The maximum number of people who can stay in the apartment is 2 (+ a small child). The connector provides adequate separation so that you won’t have to see (or hear) them, or they you. And there are secure keyless locks to prevent anyone from entering anyone else’s space uninvited.
A few other things that bear mentioning:
• The house has 2 driveways to access the main house, each clearly marked ("Main House" or "Loft").
• There is plenty of parking, both side-by-side and tandem, for up to 4 vehicles. Please don’t bring trailers, boats or anything larger than a pick-up truck or a cargo van.
• Easy and reliable check-in: a keypad is available 24 hours/day to provide entry for guests.
• There is a washer and dryer available for guests to use.
• There are 3 audio speakers in different places around the house to which you can connect your devices via Bluetooth.
• We are happy to welcome 1 dog, so long as they are at least a year old. We charge $150/stay for your canine friend. Just like in the city, if your animal defecates on the property surrounding the house, or anywhere other than in the woods, we expect you to come prepared and pick it up in a bag tied with a tight knot and deposit it in the garbage container outside the garage.
• We maintain 2 security cameras that allow us to monitor outside the front and side doors, so we know when our guests have checked in and out. Disabling these important tools will result in a fine.
Guest access
Guests who rent the big house have access to the whole house, the connector, the garage, decks and grounds, but not the loft unit above the garage.
